Need a fundraiser/speaker for your nonprofit organization?

My most satisfying work for more than twenty years has been my involvement with nonprofit industry. I have been; the Director of Fund Raising, on the Board of Directors, a spokesperson and volunteer with a diverse group of nonprofit businesses.

As Director of Fund Raising for the Jimmie Heuga Center I organized and developed the Jimmie Heuga Ski Express into an annual national fund raiser at more than twenty major ski resorts in the United States and Canada. The ski express has been proclaimed by Skiing Magazine, Ski Magazine, and The Denver Post as the “Best Charity Event in the Ski Industry.” The Heuga Express has raised millions of dollars for the center’s medical programs.

Jimmie Heuga (bronze) and Billy Kidd (silver) were the first American men to win medals in alpine skiing at the Olympics (Innsbruck, 1964). Five years later Jimmie was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Heeding his physician’s orders he lead a sedentary lifestyle and quickly lost numerous physical abilities. Being a world class athlete he decided to fight back by changing his routine and regained many lost functions. He organized The Jimmie Heuga Center to help people with special needs to lead as normal a life as possible within the constraints of their challenges.

After leaving the Heuga Center I became the first man to join the Board of Director’s of The Eagle County Women’s Resource Center, now know as The Resource Center. Their primary function is to maintain a live 24 hour hotline for those affected by domestic violence and abuse. I helped with creative publicity and put this organization on a more firm financial ground by organizing an annual walk/run family celebration. For me this was an eye-opening experience into the perverse world of domestic violence. I am now a life-long supporter of women’s rights.

I have also volunteered for numerous other nonprofits including; the Routt County Animal Shelter, United Way, and Habitat for Humanity. For the past several years I have been a lead walker for Humble Ranch which has developed equine therapy programs for people with special needs.
