About Hal Levin: Speaker, Author and Healer

Howard Alan ‘Hal’ Levin (Levin rhymes with ’begin’) was born in New York on February 12, the Chinese Year of the Horse. The ‘Year of the Horse’ comes only once every 12 years. He attended the University of Copenhagen in Denmark and graduated from the State University of New York at Oneonta with a BA in business and economics.

Levin has had a wealth of life experiences and is the author of three books, with a continuing series of animal communication, inspirational books planned. He is also a successful consultant and speaker in the fields of fund raising, business development, spiritual healing and animal communication.

Through his lifelong travels in the outdoors and around the world, Hal discovered he has a special affinity for animals. Then one beautiful Colorado morning, a horse named Bess approached Hal and taught him the magic of animal communications. The process of learning to communicate with animals has dramatically altered Hal’s life. Upon Bess’s urging, he agreed to share with the world what the animals believe about humanity’s potential to save the Earth.

Hal began the first book in a series in which animals relate their stories, histories and hopes for saving the Earth and humanity, A History of Horses Told by Horses. Through his communications with many horses and other animals, Hal discovered what many animal lovers already knew — that animals, indeed, are intelligent, creative, and have a thorough understanding of the world in a way that humans are just now beginning to realize.

Thus, the series begins with The History of Horses Told by Horses, which will be published in May 2009. It will continue with Hal’s next book, The History of Elephants Told by Elephants. Beyond that, he intends to share the stories of dolphins, whales, cats and dogs.

An enthusiastic writer, Hal has a passion for writing books that offer inspiration. He self-published his first book, Quotations for Successful Living, How to Live Life in 1994. This compilation contains more than 1,000 inspiring quotes and is arranged chronologically beginning in 2500BC.

During a particularly tough time of his life, he poured his heart into his book, Letters to an Angel, How to Love Life, which he self-published in 2001. This book contains poetic love letters to his Angel, romantically interspersed with commentary and love quotations from throughout the ages.

Some of his favorite pastimes include reading, writing, snow skiing, mountain biking, hiking, and traveling.

Hal has experienced and thoroughly enjoyed many different occupations – construction, chef, river raft guide, professional ski patroller. He then discovered a knack for building his own entrepreneurial sales business at the Olympic games and the Paralympics. Host cities where he has conducted business include Athens, 2004; Salt Lake City, 2002; Sydney, 2000; Nagano, 1998; Atlanta, 1996; Lillehammer, 1994; and Barcelona, 1992.

As an active participant in a wide range of non-profit organizations, Hal has raised millions of dollars promoting their causes, including The Jimmie Heuga Center, the Eagle County Public Libraries, and the U.S. Disabled Ski Team. He regularly volunteers at Humble Ranch, a non-profit therapeutic horseback riding center, the Routt County Animal Shelter, and the Yampa Valley Medical Center. And for The Resource Center, a nonprofit organization assisting those affected by domestic violence, he became the first male to serve on their Board of Directors.

Hal currently resides part-time in Steamboat Springs, Colorado and part-time in Los Angeles.
